Alexander Mariinsky Institute

Alexandro-Mariinsky Institute - Higher educational institution - Institute of noble maidens in Moscow, founded by General V.E. Chertova . The Institute belonged to the Ladies Guardianship of the Poor in Moscow, the Departments of Empress Maria.

Institute building at the beginning of the 20th century

It was founded in 1857 as the Alexander Mariinsky School- Shelter for the poorest orphans - the Prechistensky branch of the Ladies Guardianship of the Poor in Moscow, which was founded by V.E. Chertova. He rented the former Dolgorukovs estate on Prechistenka from Lieutenant N.P. Voeikov, and soon the property was bought in favor of the school. To the needs of the school, repairs and rebuildings of the estate were carried out, including the house church of the Protection of the Virgin [1] .

In 1899, the school was transformed into the Alexander Mariinsky Institute. cavalier lady V.E. Chertova and came under the control of the military. At the institute, the daughters of military leaders, military officials and doctors who served in the Moscow Military District were educated. Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fedorovna was the trustee of the institute. Those who completed the initial course of education received the education of female teachers of primary schools and home teachers, and female students of the institute who completed the full course received teachers. Among the most famous pupils of the institute is actress E.N. Gogoleva [1] [2] .

It existed until 1917 [1] .
