Recognition Element B (BRE) is a DNA sequence found in the promoter region of most genes in eukaryotes and archaea [1] [2] . BRE is a cis-regulatory element that is located above the TATA box and consists of 7 nucleotides .
BRE was opened in 1998 by Richard Ebright and employees [1]
Overview
The first two nucleotides of the BRE sequence can be either guanine or cytosine . The third nucleotide is either guanine or adenine . The following four nucleotides are always the same: cytosine, guanine, cytosine, cytosine.
G / CG / CG / ACGC C.
Transcription Factor IIB (TFIIB) recognizes and binds this DNA sequence . The fourth and fifth alpha-helices of TFIIB are inserted into the large groove of the DNA of the BRE sequence. TFIIB is one part of the pre-initiation complex that helps RNA polymerase II bind DNA.
