Types of Attachment Chains

There are three main varieties of attachment chains: chains used to ensure transport safety

  • on automobile and railway transport: semi-trailers, platforms;
  • chains used to fix the stationary state of the forest when transporting it on timber trucks and various goods while the vessel is moving;
  • choker chains for skidding .

Production and use

in Europe and the USA

In Europe and the USA, the manufacture and sale of attachment chains is regulated by law. The Federal Transportation Safety Administration, part of the US Department of Transportation, publishes a special bulletin that regulates the requirements for mounting chains, chain tensioners and how to use them. The fastening chains in the EU and the USA are either specialized organizations or large industrial enterprises.

in Russia

There are no such laws in Russia, which makes it possible for various wholesale companies to sell hoisting chain slings under the guise of real fastening chains, which are forbidden to be used for fastening equipment in most developed countries, including Europe and the USA. These fastening chains in Russia are made on the basis of TU 4173-001-01096367-2015. The volume of the Russian market does not allow large industrial enterprises to establish their own production of fixing chains. At present, there are only three specialized companies in Russia that produce fastening chains that meet international requirements: KrepCep Plant , PKF Krepko , and the Chains on a Trawl group of companies .
