The community is located in the Swabian government district in the Upper Allgäu district. The population is 7164 people ( as of December 31, 2010 ) [1] . It covers an area of 125.84 km². The official code is 09 7 80 132 .
In September, the city hosts the colorful festival “Viehscheid” or Almabtrib - a holiday of driving cattle from alpine pastures, which attracts many tourists.
