Erling Christophersen ( Norwegian Erling Christophersen , 1898 - 1994 ) is a Norwegian botanist, geographer and diplomat.

Biography
Born in Christiania on April 17, 1898, in the family of Mads Wil Christophersen and Christina Schweigor. In 1918, Christophersen entered the University of Christiania , in 1921 he moved to Yale University , where he received his Ph.D. in 1924. In 1924-1925 he worked at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu .
In 1925, Erling married Divert Doris Bull (1899–1993).
From 1925 to 1929, Christophersen worked in the Botanical Garden at the University of Oslo. Over the next four years, he again worked in Hawaii, taught in the rank of professor at the University of Hawaii . Returning to Oslo in 1933, Erling Christophersen became the curator of the botanical museum.
In 1937–1938, Christophersen went on a botanical expedition to the Tristan da Cunha archipelago .
From 1947 to 1951, Erling Christophersen worked as cultural attache at the Norwegian Embassy in the United States.
He died on November 9, 1994 at the age of 96.
