Biography
Ivan Manev was born on November 23, 1950.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal - with the assistance of rowers such as Bozhidar Milenkov , Nikolay Nachev and Vasil Chilingirov participated here in four-way kayak races at a distance of 1000 meters, successfully reached the final stage of the tournament, however, in the decisive race he finished only seventh. In addition, he started alone at five hundred meters, but reached only the stage of the semi-finals.
After the Montreal Olympics, Manev remained in the main team of the national team of Bulgaria and continued to take part in major international regattas. In 1980, he qualified for the Olympic Games in Moscow - with a four-seater crew, which also included rowers Lazar Hristov , Borislav Borisov and Bozhidar Milenkov, won a bronze medal at a kilometer distance - only teams from the German Democratic Republic and Romania finished better. Having become a bronze Olympic medalist, Ivan Manev soon decided to end his sports career.
