History

The synagogue was built at the end of the 18th century as a replica of the synonym in scale 1: 3.

In the second half of the 19th century , a Jewish school ( yeshiva ) was built near the synagogue in a single architectural style.

The synagogue operated until 1940, then it was closed by the Soviet authorities. During the German occupation during World War II, almost all Jews in Ruzhany were killed by the Nazis .

After the war, the yeshiva building consistently housed warehouses, a mill, a boiler room and a garage [2] . The building of the synagogue itself is abandoned and is gradually being destroyed.

Architecture

One-story building on a high foundation, decorated around the perimeter with pilasters . The walls are dissected by high windows, double arched brow and shovels . The windows are completed with semicircular frames [3] . The roof of the building is four-pitched [4] .

The building is divided into a square prayer hall and a lobby with a staircase to the gallery for women [3] . Inside, wall murals and inscriptions are partially preserved.
