House of the Hanged on the Hospital Descent

1951 year . After each case investigated by private investigator Kosuke Kindaiti, he needs rest. This time he decided to go to America, but for this trip he does not have a passport. Kindaiti travels to his native land to make documents for himself. Arriving in the city of Yoshino , he visits an old friend, a novelist (in this role on the screen was made by Saishi Yokomizo, the author of the novels about the Koske Kindaichi series), who tells him where in the city you can take a passport photo.

The old photographer Tokubei Honjo, the owner of the shop he contacted, tells him that he has recently been assassinated and asks to investigate this matter. And after Kosuke left, a beautiful young girl came into the studio and ordered a wedding photo. But she didn’t name the place to go, but said that she would send an escort. The visitor took the photographer Naokiti and his assistant Mokutaro to an empty house with a bad reputation (a woman hanged herself in this house in 1946). A photographer takes a photo, although everything seems strange and suspicious to him, is the bride half dead, maybe something was chopped off?

The next day, the photographer receives another order from this mysterious house. Having gone there, again taking their assistant with them, they find in the house a severed head hanging on a rope from a bell. It was the head of the very groom they photographed yesterday. After escaping for a private detective, Kosco Kindaiti, they return to this mysterious house, where they discover an unknown person at the crime scene who, when they appear, tries to hide. However, they manage to catch up and detain him. The detainee was a member of the touring band of musicians "The Angry Pirates" ("Evil Pirates") Yoshizawa.

Inspector Todoroki and his assistant Detective Bando come from the prefectural police department and begin investigating this mysterious case. At first glance, everything seems clear to them, they already see the killer in the person of the detained Yoshizawa, but the private investigator Kindaiti has his own point of view. On a rope with a head cut off was a piece of paper with tank verses written by Tetsuma Hogen, the founder of the Hogen-Boyin hospital, attached to him - he also once owned an abandoned house in which, under such strange circumstances, a cut-off head was found. It was found that the head belonged to Toshio Yamauchi, the illegitimate son of Tetsuma Hogen and Fuyuko Yamauchi (the same woman who hanged herself in this house). And the girl who ordered the wedding photo according to many testimonies was like Yukari Hogen, the legal daughter of Tetsuma Hogen from her marriage to Yayoi Igarashi. As it turned out, she had a sister, like two drops of water similar to her, Koyuki Yamauchi, she was the sister of the murdered Toshio Yamauchi, but the girls had not crossed before (Yukari did not even know about Koyuko).

Meanwhile, the killings continue ... An old photographer Tokubei Honjo, the one who hired a private detective Kindaiti, was killed. Then they killed Yoshizawa, a detainee who, for lack of evidence, had to be released. Kindaichi leaves for Iwate Prefecture , where he needs to get information about the secret of the Hogen family clan. After this trip, a picture of the incident has already formed in his head and there are answers to all questions.

The murders of old photographer Tokubei Honjo and Yoshizawa were committed by Ms. Yayoi, as they were blackmailing her. The old photographer kept the secret of her life on one of the negatives in his shop - the birth of her illegitimate daughter Fuyuko Yamauchi, who hanged herself in a house on Hospital Descent. He tried using blackmail to demand money from her in order to invest in a declining business in a photo studio. Yoshitsawa found out another secret of Ms. Yayoi - that her daughter Yukari was killed, and taking advantage of the resemblance, she was replaced by Koyuki (as it turns out at the end of the film, she was not even her sister, but her niece, because Koyuki is the daughter of Fuyuko Yamauchi, who was born by Mrs. Yayoi). And Toshio Yamauchi didn’t kill anyone, he inadvertently killed Yukari, the daughter of Lady Yayoi, whom he was in love with, and then committed suicide by cutting his throat, Yayoi only cut his head off the corpse and hung it on a rope in that house. In the final frames of the film, Ms. Yayoi committed suicide.
