The area is about 27 thousand km² [1] . Length over 200 km, width up to 120 km [2] . The Brittany Peninsula is the westernmost part of mainland France ( Pointe de Corsan cape).

A significant part of the Brittany Peninsula is part of the Armorican Upland . Height to 391 m (Mount Arre) [1] [3] [4] . This massif has mainly a flat character, its average height above sea level does not exceed 104 meters. The coast of the peninsula is low, rocky and indented with bays. Along the coast, the islands are shallow [2] .

Heather and peat wastelands prevail on the peninsula [3] . Deciduous forests ( oak , beech , hornbeam ) are found [3] . Among the anthropogenic landscape, bokazh [3] and numerous farms and small villages [2] are characteristic.

The climate of the peninsula is temperate oceanic. Here, thanks to the influence of the ocean, relatively mild winters (27 frosty days a year in Saint-Brieuc ) and non-hot summers. Spring begins very early, from the beginning of March, but lasts a very long time, as warming is growing very slowly. Precipitation is not very heavy, with the exception of elevations where they exceed 1000 mm. They fall mainly during the cold season. Winds, fierce on the banks, are quickly softened in the interior of the peninsula by forests.

On the peninsula there are many full-flowing, but short rivers (the largest is Vilen ) [1] . At the mouth of the Rance River, one of the world's largest tidal power plants , La Rance, was organized [2] .

Dairy farming , horse breeding , poultry farming and fishing are developed on the peninsula [2] . Among the crops grown cereals , flax , buckwheat , potatoes , apple trees [2] .

The largest city, port and naval base on the peninsula is Brest [1] [2] [3] .
