Description
They are found everywhere, more than 300 species are known (75 species in the Neotropics , about 60 in Russia ). Body length 2-8 mm. Endoparasitoids of butterfly caterpillars and beetle larvae. In South America, the main hosts are butterflies of the families Erebidae ( Arctiinae ), Noctuidae, and Pyralidae [1] . Trochantellus (2nd trochanter) is separated from the thigh. The first tergite is stalked. In the front wing, the 2nd radio-medial vein is developed [2] . A species of Meteorus caspitator parasitizes on an indoor moth . Sometimes it stands out as a separate subfamily Meteorinae [3] , Meteorus versicolor - parasites of willow burlus [4] [2] .
