Basilica delavaya ( lat. Thalictrum delavayi ) is a perennial herb , a species of the genus Basiliscus ( Thalictrum ).

Chinese name: 偏 翅 唐松 草 pian chi tang song cao [3] .
At the end of the 19th century, Abbot Jean-Marie Delavay discovered this species in Yunnan Province (China) [4] .
Basil Planting is cultivated as a flowering garden plant.
Spread
Forests, shrubs, hills, grass-covered slopes, shady places along streams, wet rocky ledges at altitudes of 1,800-3,400 meters above sea level.
China ( Guizhou , Sichuan , Tibet Autonomous Region , Yunnan ) [3] .
Botanical description
Perennial herbaceous plant. The height of adult plants to 60-200 cm, in a culture of 150 cm.
Rhizome short. The lower leaves are three times or four-leafy, about 40 cm. Petiole 1.4–8 cm. The leaves are oval or elliptical, three-lobed or solid, 0.5–3 × 0.3–2 (–2.5 cm). Radical leaves wither during flowering.
The flowers are actinomorphic , without spur (unlike some other plants of this family), small, purple-pink, collected in large, frivolous scyphoid panicles , 15-40 cm. Pedicle 8-25 mm. Sepals 4 (or 5), sizes: 6-14 × 2.2-7 mm. Many stamens , length 5-7 mm.
Blossoms in June-September. The fruit is a leaflet, the seeds are oblong, large, ripen in August [5] [3] .
In culture
In central Russia winters under light shelter. Very beautiful and most decorative among the representatives of the genus. Winter-hardy without shelter, subject to planting on well-aerated soils [6] .
He has an AGM (Award of Garden Merit) award - an annual award from the Royal Society of Gardeners [7] .
The following are recommended as companions: Molinia caerulea subsp arundinacea 'Transparent', Physocarpus opulifolius 'Diabolo', Miscanthus sinensis 'Morning Light' and Geranium x riversleaianum 'Mavis Simpson' [4] .
Varieties and varieties
- Thalictrum delavayi var. decorum . A variety that has a smaller size [4] .
- ' Album' . White flowers [6] .
- ' Hewlett's Double' . Relatively low and slowly growing variety. Height is 1 m, flowers are lilac-lilac. The stamens grew so large that the flowers began to resemble miniature pompons. Bloom later in August. It looks like a gypsophila . It grows well in any garden soil and can even put up with cold peat soils [6] .
