Bolshaya Nevka is the first right sleeve of the Neva Delta, originating half a kilometer below the Liteiny Bridge . It falls into the Yelaginsky channel of the Neva Bay .

Geographic Information
The length is about 8.5 km. Width from 50 to 360 m. Depth up to 8.5 m.
The water content of the Bolshaya Nevka varies from source to mouth, decreasing as the two branches branch off from it - Malaya and Middle Nevka. The norm of the average annual water discharge at the source of the Bolshaya Nevka is 342 m³ / s, after the separation of Malaya Nevka - 176 m³ / s, and below the arrow of the Elagin Island - 73 m³ / s. The average width in the same sections of the Bolshaya Nevka is 200, 190 and 80 m, respectively. The average depth varies from 6.0 to 3.8 m. The flow velocity averages 0.24-0.28 m / s.
Four kilometers from the estuary, Bolshaya Nevka receives the water of the Black River .
The level regime of the Bolshaya Nevka River below the arrow of Kamenny Island is determined primarily by fluctuations in the marks of the water surface of the Neva Bay. The level order for the summer period at the confluence of the Black River is 14 cm BS.
Bolshaya Nevka is assigned the highest category of fishery water bodies.
Bolshaya Nevka separates the Vyborg side from the Petrograd side.
Embankments
Along the Great Nevka, several embankments are laid. On the right bank - Pirogovskaya (from the source to Maly Sampsonievsky Avenue ), Vyborgskaya (from Maly Sampsonievsky Avenue to the Black River embankment ), Ushakovskaya (from the Black River embankment to Academician Krylov Street ), Primorsky Prospect (from Academician Krylov Street to Academician Shimansky Street ) , Primorsky Prospekt (from Academician Shimansky Street to the Annunciation Church).
On the left - Petrogradskaya (from the source to Chapaeva Street ), Aptekarskaya (from the embankment of the Karpovka River to the Malaya Nevka River ), the Bolshaya Nevka River (from Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt to the Srednaya Nevka River ).
