History

In the vicinity of the villages of Ust-Nyukzha and Yuktali, ancient rock paintings dating from about 1200-1500 BC were found and studied.

In 1649, presumably, the expedition of Erofei Khabarov took place along the lower reaches of the Nyukzha and further Olekma rivers.

In 1932 and 1934, the Olekmo-Tyndinskaya and Verkhne-Charskaya geological expeditions I.A. Efremov , who later became a famous scientist and science fiction writer. The expedition conducted surveys to design the future BAM track.

The village was created in 1976 . During the construction of BAM, each settlement had its own “boss” from the “mainland”. For Yuktali it was Chelyabinsk . Residents of the village called the main part of the country west of BAM as the “mainland”. The layman arrived in Yuktali in the late fall of 1981 . In the midst of the construction of the BAM in the village, the construction organizations SU-90, SMP-594, MK-74 were located. Until 1981, Yuktali itself was called Ust-Nyukzha 2. The station was also called Ust-Nyukzha.

In the mid-1970s, abandoned settlements belonging to the period of the BAMLAG camps were discovered near the village. Local residents removed some of the artifacts of that time, including the GAZ car (“one and a half ”) in good condition.

On the left bank of the Nyukzha River, opposite the village, there was previously a dirt airfield, which was actively used during the construction of the BAM, especially before the railway arrived in the village. The airfield hosted the AN-2 , various types of helicopters.

In Soviet times, a military unit (presumably air defense ) was present on the territory of the village.

Geography

Yuktali is located 322 km west of the regional center of Tynda .

The village stands on the right bank of the Nyukzha River, about 5 km before it flows into Olekma . In the vicinity of the village on the right in r. In addition to the river of the same name, near the village there are the Ammarak and Taluma (Talumakit) rivers, which also flow into the Nyukzhu . On the left bank of Nyukzhi , opposite the village, there are several lakes.

In the western direction from Yuktali there is a road to the village of Olekma , in the eastern direction - to the village of Chilchi .

The village of Ust-Nyukzha is a satellite of the village of Yuktali, located 6 km southwest, on the right bank of the Olekma River, not far from the left bank of the Nyukzhi . Previously, the village was called a factoria : the indigenous population of these places lives there - Evenks (formerly Tungus ). The population of the village of Ust-Nyukzha is traditionally engaged in reindeer husbandry . In Soviet times, there was a fur farm in the village where black-brown foxes were raised.

The village is located in a zone of seismic activity. During the existence of the village (until 2016), at least 2 earthquakes were recorded, with a shock force of up to 3-4 points.

Upstream of the Yuktali, a few kilometers north of the village itself, there is an old glacier (Evenki name “amnunna”), presumably from the era of the last ice age.

During the construction of the railway, it was specially protected by a protective box from damage during blasting. Now it’s possible that there are already 2 cedars in the village. A young cedar grown by a Siberian nut woman who was planted in the early 1990s grows in the village.

Interesting Facts

In 1978, in honor of the seventieth birthday of Ivan Antonovich Efremov, meetings and literary evenings were held in many cities dedicated to his memory. Then the idea arose to perpetuate his name in the area of the BAM, where he once conducted research [2] . On September 21, 1978, the Permanent Interdepartmental Commission on Geographical Names issued a positive decision on this issue [3] . In the center of Ust-Nyukzhi, they wanted to erect a monument to Efremov [2] . The initiative to assign the name of Efremov to the village of Ust-Nyukzha (now Yuktali) was also joined by the builders of the village (Komsomol members of the construction and assembly train No. 594), many public organizations, and even academicians of the USSR Academy of Sciences V.V. Menner and A.L. Yanshin [4] . However, the solution to this issue was delayed for some reason. The subsequent death of Brezhnev and the ensuing perestroika made us forget about this idea.

Economics

In the vicinity of the village, gold is mined by various gold mining enterprises and artels.

Infrastructure

  • Yuktali station , since 1997 the eastern section of BAM belongs to the Far Eastern Railway .
