Diplatinaitterbium forms crystals of cubic syngony , the space group F d 3 m , the cell parameters a = 0.7546 nm, Z = 8, the structure of the type of dimethyl magnesium MgCu 2 [1] [2] .
The compound is formed peritectic at a temperature of ≈1500 ° C [1] .
At a temperature of 0.85 K, ferromagnetic ordering occurs in the compound [3] .
