Suur-Soo [1] ( Est. Suru soo ) - a swamp in the reserve Põhja-Kõrvemaa in the Kuusalu parish of the Harju county of Estonia . Geographically located in the village of Koytjärve , in the middle reaches of the Valgeigi River [1] . It is a separate protected natural object [2] [3] [4] .

The swamp area is 25.7 km². Of these, 13.6 are lowland swamps , and 6.7 are highlands [3] .
In Soviet times, the swamp was located on the territory of the Aegviidu landfill . In the western part of the swamp, bomb funnels were preserved, and the level of heavy metals was also increased [2] .
Title
On topographic maps of the General Staff of the USSR, the swamp is marked as Suur-Soo [1] . In Estonia, the swamp has several different names: Suru ( Est. Suru ) [3] [2] , Suru-Suursoo ( Est. Suru Suursoo - “The Great Swamp of Suru”) [3] [2] , as well as Kannu-Suursoo ( est Kõnnu Suursoo - “The Great Swamp of Kınnu”) [2] [4] . The name “Suru” was given to the swamp in honor of the nearby village of Suru [3] .
