Biography
Henning Weimark was born on May 22, 1903 . From 1924 he studied at Lund University , in 1928 he graduated with a bachelor's degree, in 1930 he became a master. Since 1928 he worked as an assistant at the Lund Botanical Museum.
In 1930-1931, Weimark, Thor Fries and Tycho Norlind traveled together in South Africa and Rhodesia , collecting about 5400 plant samples. Returning to Lund, in 1933 Weimark became a licensor of philosophy, in 1935 received a doctorate. Also since 1935, he taught in Lund with the rank of assistant professor.
In 1943, Weimark was a temporary professor for a while. From 1945 to 1949 he was the curator of the Botanical Museum. For some time he headed the Gothenburg Botanical Garden . Since 1950, Henning Weimark was a professor of botany at Lund University.
In 1969, August Henning Weimark retired. He died on June 12, 1980 .
