After the collapse of Isis in 2010, Kekside, Haris and Meer decided to continue their musical career [1] . Then Moreno joined the group. He later said in an interview:

I was a fan of ISIS, I liked their sound. I like to participate with them in one project and share pleasure with them.

Being a huge ISIS fan I've always dug the moods these dudes convey with their sound. I am excited to combine my sense of creativity with theirs, and to have fun doing so.
- [3]

Also, former members of Isis decided to expand the group's sound to breakup. Kekside believed that many would like the sound of Isis with Chino's vocals [2] . The musicians deliberately deviated from aspects of Isis such as speakers. Kekside said that when he wrote songs, he dreamed of not showing them to Isis, and although they did not belong to pop music , they were close to it. [2]

The group recorded their debut album with the same name, which was supposed to be released in 2012 [3] , but was released only on July 25, 2013 via Ipecac Recordings label [4] . Haris began recording and mixing the album. In July 2013, the group held 4 concerts in California in support of the album. [five]
