His family came from Alba Longi . Clelia arrived in Rome during the rule of Tulla Gostilia . He became the first consul among his kind [1] .
In 498 BC. er he was elected consul along with Titus Larcie Flav , who became consul the second time [2] .
According to Dionysius of Halicarnassus , Clelyus proclaimed his colleague Larcie dictator because of his desire to fight the Latins. Titus Livius , however, claims that Larcius became a dictator three years before the consulate of Clelia.
