In films (but not books), Blofeld usually appears accompanied by a white Angora cat . The first time in these films it was customary not to show his face, but only a close-up of his hands stroking the cat. However, in the film “You Only Live Twice” and subsequent, this “tradition” was violated.
Blofeld appeared in six “official” James Bond films before the franchise was restarted , as well as in the movie “Never Say Never,” a remake of Ball Lightning. Therefore, it can be considered the most serious and stubborn enemy of Bond.
In the film " 007: Spectrum ", Blofeld reappears and again turns out to be in fact the main opponent of James Bond.

Biography
Ernst Stavro Blofeld was born on May 28, 1908 (it is also the birthday of Jan Fleming) in Gdansk (then the German Empire , now Poland ). His father was a Pole, and his mother was a Greek. Blofeld attended the University of Warsaw , where he studied economics and political history. Later he entered the Warsaw University of Technology , where he specialized in technology and radio electronics . He spent the years of World War II in Turkey , where he worked on the radio and founded an intelligence organization - he sold information to both sides, but after the defeat of Erwin Rommel’s troops he switched to the side of the Allies.
Despite the fact that Blofeld is ready to kill millions of people to achieve his goals, he has a certain professional scrupulousness. For example, in the book “Ball Lightning,” during the usual abduction of a girl for ransom, he found out that one of the agents was molesting her. As a result, the agent was killed in punishment, and the girl was returned to her father along with half the ransom. Blofeld did this not for moral reasons, but as evidence that “SPECTRE” keeps its word to those with whom it “conducts business”.

Books
In the series of books by Jan Fleming, Blofeld appeared three times, in the so-called "Blofeld trilogy." At first he is the head of SPECTRE , but then his role becomes insignificant. The conspiracy developed by him and his organization is being implemented already by his henchman Emilio Largo .
In “The Spy Who Loved Me, ” Blofeld does not appear, but Bond searches for him. In Her Majesty's Secret Service , Bond finds Blofeld in Switzerland and frustrates his plans to destroy British agriculture . At the end of the novel, Blofeld manages to take revenge by killing Bond's wife, Tracy Bond .
Finally, Blofeld appears in “ You Only Live Twice, ” where Bond discovers him in Japan under the name of Dr. Shatterhand. This is the last book for Blofeld, because in the end he is killed.
Movies
In a series of films about Bond, Blofeld first appeared in "From Russia with Love", where his role is very insignificant. After being absent from one film, he reappears in Ball Lightning, again in a small role. In "You Only Live Twice" he is already the main villain , as in "At Her Majesty's Secret Service," where his role almost literally corresponds to the book. In the last film, Blofeld, who in the novels did not belong to any wealthy clan, tries to bargain for himself the title of Count Balthazar de Bleschamp from the Heraldic Chamber .
He returns again in the movie Diamonds Forever, this time regardless of SPECTRE. The last episode with his participation is the introductory (even before the opening credits) scene in the series “For Your Eyes Only”, where he finally becomes a victim of just retribution for the murder of his wife Bond. Due to copyright issues, Blofeld’s name is never mentioned in this film, either in the text or in the credits. All that indicates that the person in the wheelchair is truly Blofeld is the presence of the Angora cat, the bald head and the “revived” reception of the first films: the face of the owner of the cat is not visible.
Appearance and character traits of Blofeld in films vary greatly due to the constant change of actors. For example, in the series “On Her Majesty's Secret Service” and “Diamonds Forever”, Blofeld has no scar on his face, and the first of them also shows that Blofeld removed his earlobes, but they safely return to their place in “Diamonds”, together with a whole shock of hair. However, this corresponds to the description from Fleming’s books, where Blofeld constantly changes his behavior and appearance in order to hide from Bond.
In the film " 007: Spectrum " it was said that when James Bond's parents died, young James was sheltered by Ernst Blofeld's father (real name Franz Oberhauser), Franz's father asked him to be his younger brother. Franz's father was very fond of James as his own son, and paid great attention to him. Franz killed his father and staged his death. After he changed his name to Ernst Stavro Blofeld. At the end of the film “007: Spectrum,” Bond refuses to kill Blofeld and was instead arrested.
