David Merdinzi

David Merdintsi ( Arm. Դավիթ Մերդինցի ) is an Armenian scribe and chronicler of the 15th century.

He was a priest from the city of Mardin . In 1452, he rewrote a previously compiled collection of materials of different (mostly historical) content. He added his chronicle to the manuscript, covering the period between 1450 and 1457 [1] . David was not only a contemporary of the events described, but, in most cases, an eyewitness. His short chronicle is an important and reliable source for the study of this short period [1] [2] . It contains interesting data about the state of Kara-Koyunlu and the reign of Jahanshah , about the war between the leader of the Ak-Koyunlu tribe Uzun-Hasan and his brother Jahangir, about the uprising in Mardin [1] [2] , the earthquake in Erzincan on April 23, 1457 [3 ] , etc.
