Abu Jakub Yusuf ibn Yahya al-Buwaiti al-Misri ( Arabic يوسف بن يحيى البويطي ; d. 846, Baghdad, modern Iraq) was an Islamic theologian, a student of Imam ash-Shafi, who made short stories from his life. He played an important role in the rapprochement between the traditionalists ( Ahl al-Hadith ) and the rationalists ( Askhab ar-rai ) [1] . During the reign of the Caliph, al-Mamun was arrested for refusing to recognize the Quran to be created [2] .

Biography
Born in Buvayt in Upper Egypt [3] .
Among his teachers were such famous theologians as [4] :
- Al-Lais ibn Saad ,
- Muhammad al-Shafii ,
- Ar-Rabia al-Muradi ,
- Abdullah ibn Watch,

- Abu Hatam and others
In addition to al-Bouvayti, Imam al-Shafi’i had a student who stood out among other students - this is Abu Ibrahim Ismail al-Muzam (mind. 877 ) and Abu Muhammad ar-Rabi al-Muradi (d. 883 ). Imam al-Shafi'i said that al-Bouwaiti was his language ( lisani ), al-Muzam was the one who led his madhhab to triumph ( nasir mazhabi ), and ar-Rabi al-Muradi was the transmitter of his book ( rivayat kutubi ) [3] .
Abu Jacob al-Bouway was apparently the favorite student of Imam ash-Shafi'i, who, moreover, personally made his successor. He made a significant contribution to the spread of the Shafi mazhab [3] .
Envious people reported on him, wrote to Iraq Ibn Abu Daud and the ruler of Egypt, so that he was subjected to a "test" ( mihna ) [5] . He was ordered to be arrested and brought to Baghdad chained with iron chains.
Abu Jacob al-Bouwayta died in 846 in the Baghdad prison, being chained in iron chains [4] .
Proceedings
Al-Bouwaiti author of the book Muhtasar min Kutub ash-Shafii , highly appreciated by the biographers of Muhammad al-Shafii. The book is an abridged collection of sayings of Imam al-Shafii. He also handed over the famous book of Imam al-Shafii Kitab al-Umm [4] . Abu Hamid al-Ghazali in the book Ihya ulyum ad-din wrote that the real author of the Kitab al-Umm was al-Bouwayit [3] .
Quotes from Islamic Theologians
- Rabbi said that somehow Al-Buvayti and al-Muzani and I sat with Imam al-Shafi'i and he said to me: "You will die being a Hadith expert"; and Abu Yakubu: "And you will leave this world in chains"; and al-Muzani: "And this one will win the dispute, even if the devil comes out against him."
- Abu Asim said: “Imam Shafii allowed to make fatwas and allowed him to solve the questions that came to him. He (ash-Shafii) left him the successor after his death. ”
- Ar-Rabi said: “Abu Yakub occupied an important place among Imam Shafii”.
- Al-Hakim from Ibn Khuzaima reports that he did not see anyone who knew the fiqh of the Malikit madhhab like Ibn Abdu'l-Hakam. The following happened between him and al-Bouwaita: when Imam Shafii was dying, Al-Buwait and Ibn Abdul-Hakam: each of them wanted to be at that moment next to Imam Shafii. Hamidi, who was in Egypt at that time, arrived and said that he had heard Imam Shafi'i say: “There is no one worthy of my majlis (next to me), except for al-Bouwayit, he is the most knowledgeable of my students.” Al-Buwait took the Majlis of Imam Shafii, and Ibn Abdu'l-Hakam sat in the third row [4] .
