It belongs to the ecological-geographical group of Western European grape varieties. The variety was first mentioned in the cadastral document (1512) issued by the municipality of Chieri. Grow mainly in Piedmont and other areas of northern Italy. In addition, it is cultivated in the territory of other countries of the world: Argentina, USA, Australia.
