From the very beginning, the leadership of the team was aimed at success, so Jean Bartow was hired as head coach, who gained fame for work at UCLA , the University of Illinois and Memphis . [1] [2] . In UAB, Bartow was nicknamed “The Father of Sport in UAB” and soon brought the Blazers into the NCAA tournament. Since its inception, the team has participated 15 times in the NCAA tournament, including three hits in the 1/8 finals and one entry into the Elite Eight round.
