“Hello, my name is Doris” ( English Hello, My Name Is Doris ) is an American comedy-drama film directed by Michael Showalter. The film starred Sally Field and Max Greenfield ). The film also features Beth Beers , Wendy Maclendon-Covey , Stephen Routh , Elizabeth Reaser , Isabella Acres, Natasha Lyonne , Tyne Daily and Peter Gallagher . The film is based on the 2011 short film Doris and the Intern. In March 2015, the film was presented as part of the SXSW Film Festival and received positive reviews from film critics. March 11, 2016 the film was released for rent [1] .

Story

Doris Miller, an old maid and an inconspicuous office worker over sixty. Her passion is to collect discarded items on the street and take this stuff home. At work, Doris appears a new colleague John, an attractive guy who is twice as young. Doris unexpectedly falls in love with John unrequitedly and is obsessed with fantasies about how they spend time together.

After attending a self-help workshop, Doris, emboldened, decides to take the first step herself. The granddaughter of her friend Rose Vivien helps to find John’s profile on social networks and Doris will find out what kind of music he loves. Doris gets to know him better and they even go to the concert. However, it turns out that her love interest has a girlfriend Brooklyn. Doris is disappointed and decides to take a desperate step, on John’s "wall" in the social network, she leaves a scandalous message that he is dating another woman. As a result of the intrigue, Doris understands what stood behind John's interest in her. He wanted to arrange the personal life of his uncle, but it all ended in embarrassment.

Criticism Reviews

For Sally Fili, “Hello, my name is Doris” was the first full-length project where she played the main role since the movie “ Eye for an Eye ”. At the screening of the film as part of the SXSW Film Festival, Field received a standing ovation from the audience [2] . Field also received praise from critics. [3] [4] [5] After the show, critics called Field a promising candidate for an Academy Award for Best Actress [6] [2] .
