Birger Vasenius ( Fin. Birger Wasenius ; November 7, 1911 , Helsingfors , Grand Duchy of Finland , Russian Empire - January 2, 1940 , Salmi , Finland ) - Finnish skater, silver medalist at a distance of 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters, bronze medalist at 1,500 meters of the Olympic Games 1936, world champion 1939, silver medalist at the world championships (1934, 1936, 1937), medalist at the European championships.
