The .338 Specter cartridge was created as a silent replacement for the 9 × 19 mm Parabellum submachine gun cartridge . The technical characteristics and scope of application is very similar to the Russian cartridge 9 × 39 mm . The basis of the cartridge was the shortened cartridge case of a 10 mm Magnum cartridge.
Produced by Reeds Ammunition and Research, while third-party bullets can be used: Barnes, Hawk, Nosler, Speer, Hornady, Sierra [1] .
Bullet size for subsonic cartridge standard - 14 grams (300 grains ) or more. Power about 500 joules (higher than the .45 ACP pistol cartridge).
Supersonic light (10.4 g) bullets are used in sports shooting and combat operations at a distance of up to 300 m, the shot is accompanied by a loud sound. [2]
