Geography
The area of the statistically isolated area is 181.2 km², of which 173.4 km² is land and 7.8 km² is open water. Located on the Little Susitna River. Alaska Railroad passes through Meadow Lakes.
Population
According to the 2000 census, the population of the statistically isolated area was 4819 people [1] . Racial composition: white - 87.86%; African Americans - 0.54%; Native Americans - 5.42%; Asians - 0.60%; residents of the Pacific Islands - 0.21%; representatives of other races - 0.58% and representatives of two or more races - 4.79%. 3.01% of the population are Hispanic of all races.
Of 1702 households, 42.5% raised children under the age of 18, 55.1% were couples living together; 9.2% are women living without husbands and 28.6% did not have a family. 20.9% of the total number of families at the time of the census lived independently, while 3.3% were single elderly people aged 65 years and older. On average, 2.83 people live in households, and the average family size is 3.30 people.
The proportion of people under the age of 18 years is 33.4%; persons over 65 years of age - 4.9%. The average age of the population is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 113.8 males; for every 100 females age 18 and over, 111.5 males.
Economics
The average income for a joint venture is $ 41,030. The average income per capita is $ 17,295.
