Fidelity of the species - in geobotany - an indicator characterizing the degree of “kind” of the species to a certain syntaxon . Braun-Blanke proposed the following scale of fidelity of species:
- 5 points - true : species that are found exclusively or almost exclusively in the same syntaxon;
- 4 points - durable : species, clearly prefer one syntaxon, but are also found in others;
- 3 points - favorable : species that occur more or less constantly in different syntaxa, but prefer one of them nevertheless);
- 2 points - indefinite : species lacking a clear connection with a single syntaxon;
- 1 point - alien : rare and accidental inclusion in the phytocenosis.
1 score usually have adventitious , invasive, relic, types of past succession stages; 4-5 points - diagnostic types of some endemic associations.
