The name of the village is associated with the name of the nobles of the Rudnevs, who owned several villages in this district. The best known of this kind is Matryona Romanovna Rudneva, who built the Holy Trinity Church in the village of Trinity Borki . Trinity Borki at that time belonged to her and was simply called Borki.

The village of Rudnevo is located near the village of Konchakovo , the center of the former Konchakovo rural district, 3 km from it. In 2005 - 2006, an asphalt road was laid between the two villages. Rudnevo is located 300 meters from the ravine belonging to the Malaya Mecha River .

Near the village of Rudnevo, on the Malaya Mecha River, there were settlements of people of the 12th - 15th centuries and, accordingly, local cemeteries. During the construction of the asphalt road, the cultural layer was disturbed and burial sites were damaged. On the river bank, you can easily find ancient Russian coins and the remains of burials, which were washed with surface and atmospheric waters.

2 km south-east of the village is a stone church in the tract Ivanovskoye. Previously, there existed the village of Ivanovo. The church in Ivanovo was built in 1795.
