Born in the family of a court adviser . A descendant of the "first Russian soldier" Sergei Leontyev Bukhvostov (1659-1728) - a solicitor , who in 1683 was the first to enlist in the amusing Preobrazhensky Regiment of Peter the Great .

Before the 2nd Pacific Squadron left Kronstadt Harbor, the prophetic words were uttered: "... we will all die, but we will not surrender." During the Tsushima battle, the battleship "Emperor Alexander III" was killed. Of the 867 crew, not a single person was saved.
