Ukagaka is the collective name of programs whose main action is to play funny scenes on the computer screen with the participation of characters drawn in the characteristic style of Japanese animation . Ukagaka are popular among otaku in Japan and around the world. Ukagaka typically has two characters: a kawaii girl or boy and her or his companion. The work of the program is that the characters talk peacefully (in Japanese). At the same time, windows with running text appear on the screen, and the characters express their emotions with traditional facial expressions and other “effects”. Characters react to “touches,” some can be undressed, etc. Ukagaka can also have useful functions: checking mail, setting the time, etc.
Technology and Terms
The principle of operation of Ukagaka is as follows. The behavior of the characters is controlled by a script ( Shiori ), which is executed in a special interpreter environment. There are interpreter versions for both Microsoft Windows and GNU / Linux . In the script, each character ( Ghost ), or rather, their pair, is represented by a set of pictures (as in the animation ) and corresponding replicas. To create characters there is a special software ( KAWARI ). The design of pop-up windows with running text can be changed by installing separate Balloon modules ( skins ).
- Interpreters
- For Microsoft Windows, there are SSP (actively developed, there is support for English and other languages) and Materia (only Japanese, has not been updated for a long time). Contain the character by default.
- For GNU / Linux , ninix-aya .
Character files ( *.nar ) - ZIP archives.
You may also need to install a skin for pop-up windows ( Balloon module).
