The Moscow International Book Fair ( MIBF ) ( Eng. The Moscow International Book Fair ) is the oldest and largest book fair in Russia . Passes in Moscow since 1977 in late August - early September ; Until 1997, once every two years ( in 1991 it was canceled), after - every year.

The motto of the exhibition: “Book in the service of peace and progress” ( Books Serve Peace and Progress ).
The largest Russian publishing houses , foreign publishing houses, printing houses and many others take part in the exhibition (the honorary guests of the exhibition at different times were: Poland (2005), France (2006), China (2007), Ukraine (2008), India (2009), Belarus (2010), Italy (2011)). Various meetings are organized with the authors, presentations of new products, conferences and seminars . Since 1999, MIBF has been conducting the annual national competition “ Book of the Year ”.
MIBF in culture
- One of the episodes of the film “Russian House” (1990, based on the novel by John Le Carré, starring: Sean Connery, Michelle Pfeiffer) was filmed in the late 80s during the fair’s work in the old place of about 20 and 57 pavilions of VDNH.
