History
First mentioned in a letter in 1275; the village then existed on the land of the Counts Falkenstein. When in 1486 the Falkenstein clan died down on the male line, the counts of Isenburg inherited Egelsbach. In 1600, the Isenburgs sold Kelshterbach together with Egelsbach and Langen to the Landgraves of Hesse-Darmstadt. Since then, Egelsbach belongs to Hesse. In 1705, a church parish opened in Egelsbach.
