In the 2001 NHL draft, he was selected in the 8th round under the general number 238 by the team “ New York Rangers ”.
On July 14, 2008, the Rangers traded Hollweg in the Toronto Maple Leafs for the right to choose in the fifth round of the 2009 draft .
