Biography

Like most Canadian children, Avery began to play hockey in early childhood and at the age of 15 he already played for the children's team “Merkham”. Already at an early age, Sean stood out among his peers for his unyielding character and impulsivity. In the children's league for 70 games of the season, he scored 115 points and 180 penalty minutes. In 1996, at the age of 16, Sean joined the Owen Sound Platters from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and played in it until 1999, then played for the Kingston Frontenax team.

The NHL draft did not get out. On September 21, 1999, as a free agent, he signed a contract with Detroit Red Wings , but before that he played 2 seasons in the AHL for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks team. He played 75 matches for the Red Wings team, gaining only 15 points.

March 11, 2003 was transferred to the Los Angeles Kings . In the 2003/04 season, Avery played 76 matches and scored the most penalty minutes in the league (261). During a shutout in the NHL season 2004/05, he played 2 matches for the Finnish club Pelicans from the SM League , and later played in the North American League UHL. In the 2005/06 season , Avery for the second time in a row topped the league penal list, in 75 matches he scored 257 penalty minutes. Sean gained real fame by joining the New York Rangers in 2007. After joining the Rangers, he scored 20 points in 29 games. On March 17, Avery scored 4 (1 + 3) points in a match against the Boston Bruins [1] . On February 16, 2008, in a game against Buffalo, Sabers Avery scored a goal in the 10th second of the game, setting a record for the fastest goal scored by a “ranger” on home ice. [2]

After the 2007-08 season ended, Avery moved to the Dallas Stars . After only 23 matches for Dallas, Avery gave another scandalous interview, after which he was disqualified for 6 matches “in connection with unacceptable public comments not related to hockey.”

“Glad to be back in Calgary. I love Canada. I just want to say that for the guys from the NHL it became commonplace to meet girls I already had ” [3] [4] .

The general manager of “Dallas” did not support the hockey player, and decided to kick him out of the team. After Sean was twice put up for the bounce draft, he was still taken back by the New York Rangers.

In March 2012, he announced his retirement [5] . However, Agent Avery denied retirement information, saying the player was joking when asked about retirement.
