Club career
Mena is a graduate of the Emelek club. In 2007, he debuted in the Ecuadorian Serie A. On March 16, 2008, Angel scored his first goal for Emelek [2] in a duel against Technico Universitario .
In 2010, Angel went on loan to Deportivo Cuenca . April 28 in a duel against the “ Barcelona ” Guayaquil, he debuted for a new team [3] . On May 27, in a match against his native Emelek club, Mena scored his first goal for Cuenca [4] .

In 2016, Mena took part in the America's Cup in the USA . He was a spare at the tournament and did not enter the field.
In the summer of 2019, Mena was invited to the national team to participate in the America's Cup , which was held in Brazil. In the third match in the group against Japan, he scored a goal in the 35th minute, and the teams went 1: 1.
