Biography
Born March 18, 1927 in Kharkov, Ukrainian SSR. The son of a military doctor.
He graduated from school in Serov, Sverdlovsk region (1944) and with honors - Moscow Power Engineering Institute (1950). Got a referral to Laboratory “B” ( Obninsk ) as a junior research fellow.
He conducted comprehensive studies on the use of liquid metal coolants (sodium, lead-bismuth, etc.) in nuclear energy. In 1957 he defended his thesis.
In the future, he was one of the leaders in the development of nuclear power plants (NPPs) for space applications "BUK" and "TOPAZ".
Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences, professor. Since 1980 - Director of the Space Technology Division of the Physics and Energy Institute (Obninsk).
Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1972). Honored Worker of Science of the Russian Federation (1994).
He died on November 9, 1999 in Obninsk.
