Career
In 2011, Sean Doherty took part in international competitions for the first time: his debut took place at the World Junior Championships in Czech Nove Mesto , but he did not show significant results then. Two years later, at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Obertilliach, the American won three medals: gold in the pursuit and silver in the individual race and sprint. Shortly after these successes, in March 2013 he made his debut in the World Cup at the Oslo stage. In the first adult race, Doherty showed the 85th result.
At the 2014 Junior World Championships in Presque Isle, America, the athlete became the two-time world champion (sprint and pursuit) and received silver in the individual race. After Sean took part in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics . The only race where he managed to start was the men's relay, where, together with his teammates, the athlete took 16th place.
In 2015, at the World Junior Championships in Minsk, the American won a bronze medal in the sprint. Two weeks after this success, he performed at his first World Biathlon Championships among adults in Kontiolahti , Finland, but Doherty did not show significant results at this world championship.
