Barbara Lerchak ( Polish: Barbara Lerczak , December 4, 1936 - November 20, 2000 ), who also had the names Yanishevskaya (Janiszewska), Sobotta (Sobotta) and Nowicka (Polish athlete, European champion, Olympic medalist), also after marriage.

Biography

Born in 1936 in Poznan . In 1953-1963, she became the champion of Poland 17 times (in the 100m, 200m race, and in the 4 × 100m relay race). In 1956, she took part in the Olympic Games in Melbourne , but did not win medals. In 1958, she won the gold and bronze medals of the European Championship. In 1960 she became the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Rome in the relay 4 × 100 m, and at the distance of 200 m she was 5th. In 1962, she again won the gold and bronze medals of the European Championship. In 1964, she took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo , but did not win medals.

Family and Children

Barbara Lerchak got married several times. Her husbands were the famous Polish athletes Zbigniew Janiszewski and Piotr Sobotta, as well as actor Jan Novitsky ; in a marriage with Jan Novitsky son Lukas was born.

Filmography

In 1970, in the film of Andrzej Kondratyuk “Hole in the Earth”, Barbara played the role of the wife of the protagonist (played by Jan Novitsky).
