The Cremona crater ( lat. Cremona ) is a large ancient impact crater on the north-north-western limb of the visible side of the moon , most of it is on the far side of the moon. The name was given in honor of the Italian mathematician Luigi Cremona (1830-1903) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1964. The formation of the crater belongs to the nectarian period [1] .

Crater Description
The nearest neighbors of the Cremona crater are the Lindblad crater in the northwest; Brianchon crater in the north; Crater Desargues in the northeast; the crater Pythagoras in the east-southeast and the crater Buhl in the south-southeast [2] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 85.1 km [3] , depth 4.1 km [4] .
Crater Cremona has a polygonal shape. The shaft is flattened, covered with two small craters in the northwestern part, with a cluster of craters in the northeast and a noticeable Cremona L satellite crater (see below) in the southern part. The inner slope of the shaft is wide and uneven around the perimeter of the crater; it has a wide ledge in the northern part and an unusually large width in the western part. The height of the shaft above the surrounding terrain reaches 1390 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 6800 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is relatively even, the northeastern part of the bowl is occupied by a twin pair of craters Cremona B and Cremona C, the remains of the central peak adjoin the western part of the shaft of the latter.
Due to its location at the north-north-western limb of the moon, the crater has a distorted shape when observed; the observations depend on libration .
