Elemental materialism ( Eng. Materialism spontaneous , German Materialismus spontaner ) or naive materialism [1] is a form of materialism that identifies matter with its immediate manifestations in the form of elements . As such an element can be considered fire, water, air or earth. Human consciousness is a modified element. Spontaneous materialism was characteristic of early ancient Greek philosophy .
Spontaneous materialism is manifested in the limited use of certain ideas of philosophical materialism in scientific research [1] .
