Alexander Ivanovich Danilchenko (April 24, 1920 - October 10, 1944 ) - sergeant [1] , commander of a platoon of submachine gunners of the 614th separate penal company of the 12th Pechenga Red Banner Marine Corps of the Northern Fleet .

Biography
Born on April 24 in 1920, in the village of Kamen, Bolotninsky District, Novosibirsk Region, USSR . Russian. He graduated from seven classes. He began to work as a primary school teacher at the school of Oyashinsky state farm .
Drafted into the army in 1940. He served in the Pacific Fleet . In 1942, Sergeant Danilchenko was sent to fight on the Kola Peninsula . During the move, Alexander, passing through Oyash's native station , could only catch a glimpse of his mother, who was screaming something to him, since the train continued without stopping.
He was buried on the Sredny peninsula in a mass grave .
Feat
On October 10, 1944, the Northern Fleet joined the Petsamo-Kirkenes offensive operation . The marine part of the operation was called "West". It meant a landing in Malaya Volokovaya Bay . The purpose of the landing, carried out by the Marine Corps, was to get behind the rear of an enemy grouping that was blocking Soviet troops on the Sredny Peninsula .
At 5:00 after artillery preparation, the 12th Marine Brigade, despite a strong blizzard , launched an offensive from the isthmus of the Sredny Peninsula. The battles were extremely fierce and abounded in hand-to-hand combat.
At the critical moment of the battle on the Mustatunturi ridge , Alexander covered the embrasure of the enemy bunker with his body, which ensured the success of the advancing unit [2] Danilchenko A. I. was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree.
In 1970, journalists came across a handwritten diary of the 12th Marine Brigade, which is stored in the Museum of the Red Banner Northern Fleet, and in this diary they found a description of this feat.
Interesting fact
During the assault on the Mustatunturi ridge on October 10, 1944, three soldiers covered the embrasure of the enemy bunker with their bodies: Alexei Klepach , Leonid Musteykis , and Alexander Danilchenko.
