Tex Ritter ( Eng. Woodward Maurice Ritter , January 12, 1905 - January 2, 1974 ) is an American country singer and actor [1] , popular from the mid-1930s to the 1960s. Father of John Ritter , grandfather of Jason Ritter and Tyler Ritter . In the movie he played singing cowboys.

Early life
Woodworth Maurice Ritter was born in 1905 in the family of American Martha Elizabeth Matthews and German-American James Everett Ritter. Tex grew up on a family farm in Panola County ; attended elementary school in Carthage and high school in Beaumont . After graduating with honors, Tex entered the University of Texas at Austin ; studied humanities and specialized in management, political science and economics.

In 1970, Ritter surprised many people by participating in the Republican primary from Tennessee to the Senate . Despite the great recognition of his name, he lost the vast majority to Rep. Bill Brock , who then defeated incumbent Senator Albert Gore Sr. during the general election.
Personal life
Ritter has been married to actress Dorothy Fey since June 14, 1941 . The couple had two sons: Thomas Ritter and actor John Ritter . Tex helped establish the United Cerebral Palsy Disability Assistance Organization after it became known about Tom's disease. Ritter and his sons spent a lot of time raising funds and raising public awareness to help other patients.
Death
In 1974, Tex suffered a heart attack and died in Nashville, not having lived 10 days before his 69th birthday.
His last recording was a cover of the famous article by Gordon Sinclair "The Americans". Shortly after Ritter's death, he took 35th place on the country chart . Tex Ritter was buried at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Nesses , Jefferson County , Texas.
Legacy
For his contribution to the recording industry, Ritter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (star No. 6631); he and his son John became the first father and son to receive stars for different categories. In 1980, Ritter was at the in Oklahoma City . There is a museum named after him in Carthage; also, Ritter was one of the first to be included in the Texas Music Hall of Fame in the same Cartage.
Ritter's voice belongs to the audio animatronic bear Big Al of Country Bear Jamboree in the Walt Disney Kingdom . Ritter's character performs "Blood on the Saddle" and continues until the very end, while the rest of the characters try to drown him out.
