Teruo Akiyama ( Japanese 秋山 輝男 Akiyama Teruo , September 16, 1891 - July 6, 1943) - Rear Admiral of the Imperial Navy of Japan during World War II .

Biography
Born in 1891 in Kumamoto Prefecture ( Japan ). He graduated from the naval academy . Akiyama made a career in the Navy and has earned himself as an officer from the lower ranks. In 1918 he received the rank of lieutenant, served for some time in submarines, and since 1924 he commanded a destroyer; received the rank of captain much later.
Participated in the capture of the Aleutian Islands , from where it was then evacuated by the Japanese fleet. The rear admiral rank was received on November 1, 1942.
He died in a naval battle in the Solomon Islands on July 6, 1943, when his destroyer Niizuki was sunk by salvos of American ships. Posthumously received the rank of vice admiral .
