Krasnov Crater ( lat. Krasnov ) is a large impact crater in the southeastern part of the Cordillera Mountains on the visible side of the Moon . The name was given in honor of the Russian astronomer Alexander Vasilievich Krasnov (1866-1907) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1964. The formation of the crater dates back to the late Imperial period [1] .

Crater Description
The closest neighbors of the Krasnov crater are Pettit and Nicholson craters in the west-north-west; Eichstedt Crater in the north; Lagrange crater in the east-southeast; Shayler Crater in the southwest and Wright Crater in the west-southwest. In the north-west of the crater are the Ruk mountains, in the south-south-west - the valley of Buvara [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 41.2 km [3] , depth 4.6 km [4] .
Crater Krasnov has a polygonal shape. A shaft with a clearly defined sharp edge, in the western part is covered by the Krasnov A satellite crater (see below), in the northwest part by the Krasnov B. satellite crater. At the foot of the inner slope there are scree of rocks. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1030 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 1200 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is crossed, there is a small central peak.
Due to its location near the southwestern limb of the Moon, the crater during the observations has a distorted shape, the observations depend on libration .
