Alvin Petersilie (November 1, 1847, Bremsfdor - between March 18 and 21, 1916, German East Africa [1] ) is a German statistician , economist and military scientist.

Biography
Educated in the field of philosophy and theology, had a Ph.D. [2] and the rank of lieutenant. He was a primary school teacher [3] , then a professor of statistics in Berlin and Breslau and a Privy Councilor in the Prussian Statistical Bureau [4] . As of 1910 he lived in Friedenau [5] . He died in a battle with the British in German East Africa.

His main works: "Oeffentliche Volksschulen in Preussen" (1882); Statistik der preussischen Landesuniversitäten (1886-1900); “Die Volks- und die Mittelschulen im preussischen Staate” (1891); "Das öffentliche Ünterrichtswesen im Deutschen Reiche und in den übrigen europäischen Kulturländern" (1897); Das niedere Schulwesen in Preussen (1896–98, together with Schneider).
