Content
Description
Monoecious trees , shrubs and creepers . Leaves are evergreen or falling, with cirrus or palmate venation, stipules are falling, simple.
Inflorescences are terminal, in the form of a brush or panicle. Flowers deprived of a corolla , stamens on pedicels, with a 3-5-leaf calyx, pistillate flowers are almost sessile or also on pedicels, with 4-5 sepals falling. Stamens in the number 2-3, fused into the tube. Pestles also fused with a 2-3-lobed tube.
The fruit is a berry-shaped capsule , the seeds are almost spherical.
Range
Representatives of the genus are widespread in tropical regions of the world, are absent only on the islands of the Pacific Ocean .
