Miracle of Sound

Before creating the Miracle of Sound project, Gavin Dunn played in various musical groups for about 15 years ^[4] . As a member of the Lotus Lullaby musical group, together with her other musicians, in 2006, he won the National Student Music Award of the Bank of Ireland and won the Murphy's Live Award from the Hot Press magazine ^[5] . After the collapse of the group of this group, he began to experiment with writing songs that in one way or another convey the impression and mood of computer games or their characters ^[6] . The first song written in this genre was “Gordon Freeman Saved My Life”, released in 2010. The song was a success on YouTube , Gavin concluded that such work has its own niche and is interesting for listeners, and continued to work in this direction. The project became relatively famous after the release of the fourth song, Commander Shepard (based on the game character Commander Shepard ), in 2011. The song quickly became popular and well-known in the gaming community, according to Gavin and game industry commentators, it was she who produced an “explosion of popularity” of his work ^{[7] [8] [9] [10]} .

Since 2011, Miracle of Sound has collaborated on an ongoing basis with the gaming magazine and The Escapist portal ^[8] .

A number of gaming companies, such as Ubisoft , BioWare , Bethesda , drew attention to the work of Gavin, and his songs were used for advertising companies such as Mass Effect 3 , Assassin's Creed Syndicate , Watch Dogs , Fallout 4 ^{[4] [11] [ 11] 12] [13]} .

New songs Gavin Dunn presents in the form of video clips, putting them on YouTube . The last few years, the video sequence for these clips is often assembled by the game developers themselves ^[14] . As of March 2015, Miracle of Sound has released more than 120 tracks ^[6] , among which there was music, not only for computer games - for example, five songs were dedicated to the series “ Game of Thrones ” ^[15] .

Gavin is called the “man-orchestra” because he uses both computer programs and various “live” instruments for his compositions ^{[6] [8]} .

Gavin himself calls his creative process chaotic, tries not to write songs without inspiration, notes that he succeeds best of all with songs for games that have a detailed plot ^[4] .

In accordance with the tradition of computer games , Miracle of Sound albums devoted to this topic are called sequentially - Level 1 , Level 2, and so on ^[3] , up to Level 7 , released in December 2016 ^{[1] [16]} . In addition, Miracle of Sound has released two non-connected with the compilation games: the instrumental album Vistas and the metal album Metal Up ^[17] . The album Metal Up immediately after the release on iTunes took the first lines of the rating in the metal genre ^[18] .

Critics call Gavin a “fun all-rounder,” working with “an incredible musical genre and theme vinaigrette,” celebrating “amazing matching of music and lyrics with the spirit of the original source” and increasing the quality of the songs with each new Miracle of Sound album ^{[1] [4] [12] [19]} . The correspondent of 3DNews, Artem Terekhov, calls the Miracle of Sound project "perhaps the brightest representative of the direction" of music, written under the impression of games, and notes the "originality and wit" of his compositions.

Gavin not only releases his own songs, but occasionally collaborates with various musicians. Together with the Mexican singer Malukah, in 2012, the song “Legends of the Frost” was recorded ^[20] . In 2014, the song “Cries of a Dead World” was included on the official soundtrack of Wasteland 2 ^[21] . In 2015, the song “I Am The Night” was published, where the narration is conducted on behalf of the character of the computer game - Batman ^[22] , in the same year, the song “Metro - Last light rap” was created together with the British rapper Dan Bull ^{[23 ]} and saw the light of “Lady Of Worlds”, on which Gavin worked together with Ailin Kennedy ( English Ailin Kennedy ) ^[24] .
