The length of the river is 4.5 km, the catchment area is 5 km² [4] . The source is located south of the intersection of Vernandsky and Universitetskiy Avenues [5] .
The watercourse runs northeast along Anuchin Street through the Vorobyovskiy Pond. Then the river turns east, crosses Leninsky Prospekt , 60th Anniversary Avenue and the Third Transport Ring , after which it comes to the surface. In the open stream, it was preserved in the estuary section for 400 meters . Passes through a system of settling ponds. The mouth is located near the southwestern outskirts of Danilovsky cemetery . On the left bank of the river were located Andreevskaya Sloboda and Zhivoderynaya Sloboda [6] [7] .
The exact version of the origin of the name Bleeding is unknown. Perhaps the hydronym is associated with the color of water red from peat or glandular deposits. A connection with the toponym Zhivodera Sloboda is likely, since in the XVIII century there were slaughterhouses on this area, because of which the water could have a red tint. The river was named St. Andrew’s ravine by the settlement of the same name [8] [9] [10] .
