History
On January 14, 1944, Norman Scott left Boston and, with USS Canberra (CA-70), sailed to Pearl Harbor , arriving there on February 1. The destroyer took part in the Gilbert Marshall operation , escorting the USS Gambier Bay escort carrier (CVE-73) . Norman Scott took an active part in the Marian-Palau operation . The destroyer provided fire support during the invasion of Saipan and the battle of Tinian.
Rewards
The destroyer was awarded seven stars for service in World War II .
